Does checking your credit score online affect my score?

Checking your credit score online has nothing to do with your credit score. It won’t affect it. That is mainly because a credit card check is seen as a “soft inquiry”, which is very different from a “hard inquiry” that happens when a lender pulls your credit report.

However, if you apply for new credit, your borrower will definitely run a credit check that might affect your score by a couple of points. Even so, by checking your score yourself, there won’t be any effect whatsoever. One of the greatest tools for monitoring your credit score is Chase Credit Journey.

The service is completely free, and you won’t have to bank with Chase to simply use it. Once you’re signed up, you can easily check your score anytime you want, and how often you want, and it won’t affect your score in any way.

You might also get additional benefits that will serve as essential tools for building your credit, like identity monitoring, credit activity alerts, but also personalized insights.
