Teaching

Retirees who are looking forward to taking on a new challenge and wish to make a difference in their community might want to consider a second career in teaching. After all, if you reach the end of your entire life, nothing can compare to your experience and knowledge!

Surprisingly enough, this occupation is mostly popular among women who launch second careers at 62 years of age and older, as only 3% of older men chose to enter the field, according to a study conducted by the Urban Institute.

In fact, the Bureau of Labor Statistics expects to see an 8% increase in the teaching field by 2026. As for pay, it depends on the state you’re currently living in, but overall, the national average salary is $60,320 for a high school teacher and $57,980 for those who want to teach in elementary schools.
