5. Opt for a simple wake and funeral service.

If bypassing a wake or the funeral service is not something that you can do, then the best way to cut down on funeral expenses is to keep the whole funeral simple. Keep in mind that most costs are incurred because the family asks for certain things.

If you want to keep everything simple and intimate, then you can choose to do so, and this will not end up costing too much. A simple service with a wake could imply that you:

  • Lower the number of days of the wake;
  • Choose a proper casket on the affordable side;
  • Choose to organize the wake and funeral as a family rather than have a funeral director;
  • Eliminating the procession;
  • Limiting the number of people attending.

This would mean that you only keep the funeral for the family and really close friends, having a proper and intimate funeral for your loved one.

While it is important to plan ahead for the dark times, it does not mean that you do not have a long life ahead of you! Make sure you live your life to the fullest and read about all the best vacation destinations you should not miss here!
