Food

If you ever dream of a golden retirement where all you do is go on brunch dates and fancy steak dinners, then the chances for this to happen aren’t only super high, but you’ll also notice that despite all that, your food bill will still be lower than you were used to.

In fact, the average household spends 25% less on food as retirement strikes. Probably the most logical response is that retirees try to be a bit more careful and price-conscious when it comes to shopping for groceries.

Truth be told, when you’re not in a hurry anymore and you’ve got all the time in the world to compare prices and find the best deal out there, gather all kinds of coupons, and spend more time carefully planning your meals, you really save the big bucks.

Also, it’s worth mentioning that spending on dining will also drop by as much as 35% for the same reasons. Working a minimum of 8 hours a day makes dining out seem like the best solution. But when you have all that time on your hands, you won’t consider it as often.
