Being home most of the time gives you the opportunity to fix more household issues than before retirement. Apart from rent, property taxes or home insurance, there is some maintenance or repairs you need to spend money on in order to keep the house in a good condition.

Maybe the exterior’s paint is faded, the roof is leaking, or the smoke detector doesn’t work properly. The thing is, when it comes to fixing house problems, you have no choice but to pay for them.

Here’s a tip, though: if your house needs to be renovated and you don’t have enough money to spend on it, focus on DIY (do it yourself) projects where you won’t need outside labor.
