Tuscany, Italy

Who wouldn’t want to travel to Italy? Consider Tuscany if you’re a retiree wanting to visit this beautiful and historic country. Pricing is much better going outside Florence into the countryside.

But we advise you to find accommodations with access to other popular sites in and around the Tuscany region, including Siena, Florence, or the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

To save some of that hard-earned cash in this over 50s destination, check out prices up until May and in the fall as early as September. Also, you can look for trains that offer senior discounts and consider short-term rentals.

And remember to use pre-paid cards to avoid those expensive bank and ATM fees. And then there’s always Sicily. It boasts breathtaking ocean views. By taking a Sicilian tour, you can go wine tasting and see the Valley of the Temples.

But remember that airfares and hotels offer lower rates in the off-season, the climate is milder, and many monuments and museums are less crowded.
