Despite its reputation as a tax-friendly state, Colorado has a somewhat higher cost of living than the national average.
Housing is one of the most significant expenses for retirees as well as for anyone living in Colorado. The average house price in the area is currently more than $545,000.
Also, if you decide to retire in Colorado, be prepared for significant snowfall, and don’t forget about the higher altitudes in some parts of the state, which are not suitable for the faint of heart.
If you have cardiovascular or respiratory issues, the high elevations of much of the state could be problematic. The lowest point in the state lies near the Kansas border in the southeast region, nearly 300 feet above sea level.
