10 US Cities Where $2k a Month Is More Than Enough

#8 Indianapolis

With one of the highest monthly averages on our list, the one thing that drives the total average per month to the grand sum of $1,710 is the fact that the average rent in Indianapolis is no joke. Surely, not a lot of people would expect a huge city like this one to have extremely cheap rent, but here the average comes out to $950, which is so much more than any of the other cities!

The one good point Indianapolis has going for it is the fact that the groceries are fairly cheap, averaging up to $385, which is not as bad as the other cities.

All red states. I’d rather pay more and live in a blue state where women have rights and the LBGTQ community is welcome.

Women have rights? I assume you mean regarding abortion. Funny how the life within said woman has no rights………even up to birth…..NOT RIGHT…the kid does too. Reproductive rights? How you can obfuscate this phrase away from reality is also NOT RIGHT

I assume you are 💯 behind total 2nd amendment misinterpretation of no bands at all even though guns kill more kids than disease. Also red states offer much less health care and family support for the kids they want to enforce coming here, especially for minorities. Remember the 2 most favorite GOP presidents rode to power on keeping blk & brn down.

What women rights are you referring to? I’ve never had any problem being a woman in the USA. This isn’t a Muslim country where it’s apparent women have less rights!

Lucy Lou don’t be silly. There are gay people in Shreveport and all of the cities mentioned. They are treated just as well as in the blue states. You will find even a few parades celebrating your gayness if that’s what you’re into. If you want to kill your baby that you’re carrying you might have to go to a state nearby, but that’s a small price to pay in offing your child.

You have got to be kidding. Every city has either hot and humid summers, or freezing winters, which drives up utility costs, and is not outdoor friendly. I grew up in Illinois and I have no desire to go back to that weather or tornadoes! I guess I’ll stay in Coastal Oregon, where the climate is mild and the ocean and forests are breathtaking for a senior outdoor lover! Even with a high cost of living.

This list is good but one very important thing left out is the crime rate per city. That has a lot to do with where you decide to live especially if a more mature adult.

You’re Kidding, Right. Are you promoting Texas? Oklahoma, really. This must be a joke. There is only one city I would even want to visit on this list. We will stay in the Pacific Northwest with our lush, green country sides, our beautiful lakes, our four seasons, and our great people who embrace diversity.

TX and OK have high sales taxes on everything including groceries, clothing, and non prescription medicine. Rural central PA isn’t bad, no sales taxes on groceries, clothing, non prescription medicine, but school taxes are high in the cities.

You high and getting higher taxes. The over crowding. He high cost of housing and utilities, groceries and everything else. And a government that views its citizens as a money crop to be harvested frequently.

Funny people in blue states believe media lies about red states not accepting *certain* communities. Fact is, they accept ALL communities, even liberals. Blue states pick & choose groups “worthy” of their social justice attention, not realizing irony of continued failed results (as seen here) by socializing ineffective government to FORCE inequity. How arrogant. Yes, inequity when assuming certain groups are unable to achieve without their assistance. If blue state govern officials get richer after raising taxes, how is their campaigned for social programs working for y’all? Red states take care of their own, with a smile, regardless of color, orientation, or potential ability to manipulate votes from. That’s why so many have left blue states for red…turn off CBS news & find out for yourselves!

Lol if red states took care of their own, you wouldn’t depend on money from CA to subsidize your states budget. Southerners love to bash CA but can’t live without our money or food. Obviously you are unaware that CA provides 75% of all food to the rest of the USA including wine, nuts, and seeds. We have the ability to be our own country. Educate yourself fully before you throw stones.

Amen. Blue States act like their Superior, ie CA. Until a fire becomes an inferno over Clinate Chage cult beliefs. Then if you believe in a certain way and a disaster hits, no help for you. How about Illegal Aliens shutting down freeways, holding up flags from countries they fled from.

It’s just incompetence, hate and anti Christian ideologies. Less than 90 days and me and my son are out of CA and headed to SC. Where they voted Red, down Ballot.

Finally, I’m all for reproductive rights. Wait til your married and want children before getting pregnant. See you have the right to have a family whenever you want.

Sorry to vent, but its why Trump won. I don’t care what a person does in their own home. Just don’t force me to approve of it.

Its important for retired persons to know about climate(blizzards, searing high temperatures, etc); heating-cooling costs; public transportation and vehicles for hire. Also real crime info- if persons have health insurance as part of their retirement package- that will not necessarily change where you live. But Texas is in recent years has tornado’s, hurricanes, blistering heatwaves and snow blizzards. And the State’s utility infrastructure has not been able to withstand the weather pressures- heat or cold.

Just paying a few hundred $$ a month won’t help a retired ( with physical limitations) live a better quality of life.

Keep researching though, retired persons are looking for possible alternative places to live. THANK YOU for the article.

Why is it that Democrat voters run and move to red states for more security and bring that same ignorant ideology with them? Only to continue to vote for the same ignorance that made them want to move in the first place. The so called “powers-to-be” run that guilt trip on Americans about equity and inclusion. If you feel left out, that’s on you. You cannot make society love you. You must first love yourself. You should also learn to do for yourself. Opportunity is what America gives, and it is yours for the taking.
