7 Hard Truths About Retiring Overseas

Am I obliged to renounce or even relinquish my US citizenship or even get dual citizenship if I want to move abroad?

In most cases, having dual citizenship is the right option, as you would benefit much more, especially if you move abroad. That’s why we strongly believe that renouncing your citizenship would be a very complicated process.

Dealing with the IRS isn’t really so much fun, and pre-paying future taxes just to relinquish your citizenship can be such a burden vs. continuing to file taxes as a US citizen, despite living abroad. There are also a couple of tax advantages if you live abroad.
