Medicare Costs Are Rising in 2026 — Here’s What to Expect

Medigap: Filling the Gaps in Coverage

Original Medicare leaves gaps in coverage. While Part B covers 80% of outpatient services, it does not include dental, vision, hearing, or other supplemental care. Many beneficiaries purchase Medigap (Medicare Supplement Insurance) policies to cover these costs.

Medigap plans are standardized and labeled with letters from A through N. Each plan letter offers the same core benefits, no matter the insurance company. In 2026, Plan G is the most popular choice since Plan F has been phased out for new enrollees.

Plan G covers coinsurance and excess charges but does not cover the Part B deductible. High-deductible versions of Plans F or G require beneficiaries to pay up to $2,950 before coverage begins, slightly higher than the $2,870 deductible in 2025.

Lower-cost options like Plan K and Plan L have reduced premiums but require you to share a portion of coinsurance costs, up to an annual limit.
