You won’t need to deal with the crowds in Alabama.

Retiring in Alabama will mean the worst traffic you’ll find in the state will happen during college football season. And even that is when there’s a home game or when church lets out right before lunchtime, and people head to their favorite eatery.

Although life may sometimes feel hectic in Alabama, the laid-back pace of life that you’ll find there makes things easier to adapt to after your move. Now we’ll admit not everyone is courteous.

And there are certain areas where crime and generational poverty are huge issues. But you can also find incredibly charming places to put down new roots.
