4. What are the things you want to leave behind?

Maybe you used to have an incredible job, and you loved almost any part of it, but what are the things you are not willing to do? You’ve heard of a bucket list, but before you start working in retirement, we advise you to make a list of all the things you don’t want from your new job.

Take a moment and think about the things that you are not willing to do. Maybe you are not up to commuting, or you can’t take night shifts, or there are certain office politics you don’t agree with. All of this is important, and it will eventually play a big role in your well-being at work.

You can start by making a list of three to five non-negotiable work factors. From there, you can add some more stuff that you can eventually agree on. When searching for a job in retirement, try to find something that suits you and your new schedule. Maybe you are not able to do all the things you used to, and this is alright. You will need to adapt a little, and everything will be okay.
