Class differences

Another problem that might be related to the longevity issue is a bit more complicated. You see, wealthier individuals are expected to live longer because they have greater access to healthcare and white-collar jobs.

As Social Security benefits are mainly calculated based on the 35 highest-earning years of one beneficiary, wealthy retirees are paid way more benefits than lower-income participants.

As a higher number of wealthy beneficiaries appears in the system, benefits are paid out faster, acting as a further drain on Social Security reserves. Needless to say, the Social Security Administration would have to re-evaluate some of the most relevant class differences and think of the right measures.
