3. Minnesota

Maybe you were not expecting Minnesota to be so high on this list, but this is real, and if you want to retire to a nice location, this might be an excellent place. Even if the winters might be harsh, there are a lot of pros that will make you want to stay there.

The state of Minnesota offers a low cost of living, a low crime rate, wonderful attractions, top-notch healthcare, and a fantastic art, music, and cuisine scene.

When thinking about what makes Minnesota a good place for retirees, the first thing that comes to mind is affordability. Despite the fact that the typical house value in Minnesota was roughly $225,000 and has since increased to $317,303 as a result of rising real estate costs nationwide, Minnesota real estate prices remain much cheaper than the national average.

Also, the cost of living is incredible, and if you are a retiree with a fixed income, you can’t hear better news. Sure, if you choose to stay in an urban area such as Minneapolis, the cost might be a little bit higher, but if you opt to live in rural areas, you are all set.

The North Star State excels in the cost and quality of healthcare. Almost 20% less money is spent on healthcare in Minnesota than it is nationwide, and keep in mind that access and quality are not affected.

So, you have good-quality healthcare, a low cost of living, and an amazing community. What more can you want from a state when you retire? This is why Minnesota is one of the happiest US states, and people love to live here.
