Portugal has acquired popularity as a retirement spot due to its breathtaking landscapes, hospitable people, and temperate climate. It’s safe to say it’s one of the best places with great weather year-round to retire to.

The cost of living fluctuates from city to city, with Porto being a bit less expensive than Lisbon. But what’s even greater in Portugal is that, if you enroll with the National Health Service and pay per service, you can obtain access to public healthcare by being a legal resident.

Private insurance is required for residence permits. If you want to move here, you must register for a residence permit at a local consulate, and they will give you a five-year permit. After expiration, residents can apply for a permanent permit.
