If there are way too many home repairs, maybe moving to another house would be a better idea. Downsizing a multi-bedroom home into a smaller, more senior-friendly house is an obvious long-term cost-saving strategy. Obviously, this whole process involves settlement expenses.

Mike Palmer, a certified financial planner, highlights that downsizing for some clients can be unexpectedly huge, especially if they want to have a house within urban areas. To avoid those overpriced houses, he suggests moving from an urban area to a more rural one. Also, the costs of taxes vary greatly from state to state so you’ll need to do some research before relocating.
