#4 Disability Income Limits in 2026
Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) has strict income rules called Substantial Gainful Activity (SGA) limits. In 2025, the SGA was $1,620/month for non-blind workers and $2,700/month for blind workers.
For 2026, these limits will rise slightly due to inflation (final numbers announced October 2025). Earning more than the SGA amount may cause benefits to stop, but programs like the Trial Work Period (TWP) and Extended Period of Eligibility (EPE) provide some flexibility.
If you’re working while on disability, it’s smart to review income carefully and consider professional guidance from a disability attorney or financial advisor. Coordinating benefits with insurance, IRA accounts, and credit management can help maintain long-term stability.
