Bethlehem, Pennsylvania

Average home list price: $296,100
Percentage of residents aged 60 and up: 17.2%

This one’s a lovely college town that offers a lively and walkable downtown area and a lower cost of living than average. You can live in town or in one of the active communities in the area.

The average home value is $296,100, the rent is about $1,289, and retirees earn extra benefits because the state doesn’t tax specific employer-sponsored retirement income. It won’t tax your Social Security, either.

The retirement town is also well-equipped with hospitals and healthcare facilities, it offers a bus service, and it’s very close to an international airport. But aside from all that, Christmas lovers rejoice!

Bethlehem has been dubbed “Christmas City,” offering more than 50 different events and attractions during the jolly season, carriage rides included.

The town is home to many delicious restaurants, parks, and recreation opportunities., and it also holds many festivals throughout the year, including a Blueberry and a Harvest Festival.

You’ll also find The Sands Casino Resort in this retirement town. It’s an entertainment destination with games, live music, and restaurants that many seniors will enjoy.
