Living costs are extremely expensive

One big problem with retiring in NYC is that living costs are extremely expensive in this region, and everything that’s slightly interesting or fun will cost you a lot of money. So if you’re out and about with your friends, prepare to spend more than some people pay in Louisville or any other cheaper place in the United States.

You’ll have a hard time finding a proper place to stay

The housing shortage is a real issue in the Big Apple, so many retirees in NYC have a hard time finding a nice place to live. In fact, they have to search for weeks in a row or even months before visiting something. Even more, lots of seniors need to worry about losing their homes. The competition in the housing market is pretty fierce, and if seniors can’t find a place to stay, their worst fear is that they may end up on the streets.
