Retired English teachers and others with writing skills and experience can easily apply for the post of Editor.

An editor’s role is to confirm the value of writing. It may involve fact-checking to confirm the exactness of data, but the editor also transmits out the vision for the article, making sure that it’s useful and of interest to readers.

Being hired as an Editor is a brilliant opportunity for pensioned-off teachers who have a keen eye for detail and a yearn for a flexible way to make extra income.

I retired because of my hands have arthritis. It took me on my job longer and longer to do my work with pain and I was unhappy because of this! I found a job working for the town I lived in it was 20 hours a week and did not require much hand work! I saw so many people that I have not seen in years! I love this job! What more can anyone ask for, I help people that are older than I, talk to many and find out what is going on in my town!!!

I have worked since my retirement over 20 years ago but I had to retire again to be a
caretaker for my wife who has many health problems. My purpose has become taking care of her
and it is a full time job so I have no plans to go back to work until my situation changes. I
would love to find something to fill in the gaps but I have to work from home to do it.

Hi Mr Ronald Robb. I admire you for being a devoted husband and living up to your vows. I am blessed knowing this company I partnered with that’s giving me the opportunity to be home and have a passive income. There is no capital or selling needed. Let me know if this is something you would like to try. Thank you and regards to your wife.

I am retired and need a part time job. Can you let me know what job is available. I have worked most of my life in Law Firms as an accounting Clerk. With Low. & Loeb LLP, Musick, Peeler and Garrett and many more. But at this time I am interested in Alfabetical and Numerical filing for any job that is open. From Monday thru Friday. Do you know of anyone that needs a file clerk?

Hi Ron, I have gone through this same experience. My wife had a double lung and kedney transplant operations. Before this and after I was her care giver. I acually got a part time job that I thought would fill in the gaps. Butshe wanted me to spend this time with her. I am sooo glad I did not take the job. She was fully aware of where she stood with life. I was not so aware that I could lose her. My wife did pass after a time. Had I taken the job I would have missed out of so much time spent with her. I cherish that time now.

This was a great article, I retired in 2023 and found a job working at an elementary school in the cafeteria, it’s a great job 20-25 hours a week, 10 minutes from home 9:30 -1:30 summers off weekends off and summers and holidays off all while earning a small paycheck but also getting health benefits. What could be better?

I am 70 year old, where did you go to apply? Is it LAUSD? I’ve never worked for the school district but I only have 35 -40 years administration experience, but I really like the work schedule.

      Pls advise.

Good morning…this is exactly what I have been thinking about doing also when I retire. I love being around children and think this (or even a playground aide) would be great. The hours are perfect for spending time with my grandchildren on weekends, holidays and during the summer.

Did you go onto the school website or how did you find the job? My plan is to have something lined up before I retire (I still have a bit of time…March 2027) but want to have my “ducks in a row”.

Thank you for any information you may provide.

You can generally apply at the district through their website or you can go directly to the school or schools you might want to work at. I was a teacher for 27 years and the school where I worked would do it both ways but you would eventually apply through the district.
In my district, make sure what the rules are for retirement pensions since in my district my pension was through the state and I couldn’t work for any state job for 1 year after retirement because it could mess up your pension but I could work for any other job. Then after one year, I could go back to substituting for my district.

I tried to retire about three years ago and got a response of near panic.
The statement “we don’t know what you do” was not what I expected.
It turns out that I, being on the team from the start know all of our home grown software having written some of it.
So now I am working 3 days a week and none of the newer members are quite happy to have me around so they don’t have to learn obsolete languages that I use.
Still get pay, benefits and vacation.

After my husband died I had to go to work full time again in order to keep living in my home that we built. With the cost of everything from food to utilities and house taxes, insurance, there is no other choice for me but to keep trying to work. I am a trained home health caregiver for seniors so I have had to work with different companies who can get me the clients. Instead of giving so much to illegal immigrants I wish the government would give us senior citizens a big boost so we could not have to worry so much. As you get older, jobs are harder to find because no one wants to hire a senior even if we are the ones who always show up.

Ride share jobs, bookkeeping and babysitting this is 2024 is that the best you can come up with? This information is old and outdated by 20 years. OMG!
FYI: Retirees are making and editing YouTube videos, Creating and publishing eBooks, part-time foster parenting, working at Walmart, amazon and Kroger’s and the list goes on. I’m 68 and I work part time as an x-ray tech at a city jail in a large metropolitan city and I get more job offers than I did when I was in my forties. Now just imagine how horrible and outdated this article comes across to me. Yeah! very insulting. Retirees are doing more than being written about

Yes,for Manny retirees work ha become a necessity. What is best than finding a job you enjoy doing. I was ia Broker in the insurance field until retirement a 62, then worked for a while at Peninsula Family Services in San Mateo CA.. Great job, the best I ever has, my manager there is no way she could been better. But the cost of living there made me look for places with affordable living and moved to Vegas. It’s not as cheap as it used to be do to huge migration from California but is still ok. When it comes to work I got me a part time at the airport working the check in, and boarding passenger to all parts of the world. It gives me the opportunity to interact with people I would never have the chance on any other job. Co workers and managers are fantastic. !

As far as skills are concerned, it needs to be recognized that dealing with customers is also a skill. For some strange reason, dealing with customers is often not recognized to be a skill. Most of the supposedly unskilled jobs, including most minimum wage jobs, seem to require dealing with customers. As a person with autistic characteristics, I ABSOLUTELY CANNOT tolerate any job that involves dealing with the public. Sooner or later, those doing such jobs will face nasty and difficult customers. In addition, I neither drive, nor own a car.

Most of the listed jobs involve dealing with customers and/or driving. Public transit cannot be counted on to cover shift schedules.

I am a retired teacher, am 76, and I’d rather be a penny-pincher than work again at any job. I did a stint as a Rent-a-Cop for a while after retiring, and it was OK. It paid well, 24 dllars an hour, but it was night shift, and that was tough.

I taught community college classes. I was able to take on as few or as many classes as I wanted to. Watch out though. If you’re good, the college will keep loading you up until you are teaching a full load and only being paid as a part-timer. Learn to say, no.
