Retirement Issue: Health And Long Term Care

This is a subject that many people are still confused about whether it’s a real retirement issue. Long-term care is required when you’re unable to care for yourself anymore.

This can mean having a caregiver in your home, continuous care in a nursing facility, or even something in between. Costs can be as much as $10,000 per month.

This can put a significant amount of stress on your bank account and place a substantial amount of pressure on a spouse. Those who haven’t had to deal with these high healthcare costs may even question if they need it.

But the fact remains that long-term care needs to be discussed and planned in advance. Healthcare costs are also continuously on the rise. Medicare is in place for those over the age of 65, though the age of this program is being currently discussed.

Unfortunately, this program doesn’t cover all needs and expenses.
