Listening to music
Your favorite jam is able to add many years to your lifespan. According to Patrick Faga, a lecturer at Goldsmiths, University of London, if you attend concerts regularly, you will definitely live longer.
The study conducted by Fagan showed that just 20 minutes of listening has the ability to boost your sense of well-being by up to 21%. Attending a concert will boost feelings of self-worth by 25%, feelings of closeness to others by 255, and proper mental stimulation by 75%.
The study came to the conclusion that positive feelings will boost lifespan by up to nine years. Fagan ultimately mentioned that “the research showcases the deep impact gigs have on feelings of health, happiness, and well-being – and the key to that is having regular attendance.”
I bead and enjoy it very much! Surprised that or sewing not on the list. Beads make me very happy.
I would add journaling, especially if one lives alone. It’s a great way to express thoughts and emotions that might not have another outlet. It can be themed for gratitude, setting goals or anything else.
I just adopted a stray tiger striped cat. I named her Tigger. I’ve had her a couple of weeks now and kept thinking “Boy she’s really gaining weight.” Well turns out she’s pregnant so having a pet is great hobby for me.
Can’t wait to see how many she has!
None of my favorite activities were on the list. I build model airplanes, practice martial arts (4th degree black belt in taekwondo) and own three telescopes.
I’m glad the study has dancing in it. I would add Square Dancing specifically because it’s something you actively have to read and study to be proficient. Also, an evening of Square Dance is equivalent to about a 5 mile walk. It takes team work, and listening skills to say the least.
Please, someone save me from plowing through all of this just to get to the list…list the 10 hobbies here for all of us to then determine if we want to read more about any of them.
