If you do not want to invest in such a device, it is still good to have some emergency numbers on hand and even on speed dial in some cases. Some of the most important ones include local emergency services, your doctor’s office or cell phone if they are okay with such calls, a close family member or friend, your trusted neighbor, and even the number for poison control!

Emergency preparedness is crucial if you live alone, no matter your age. Always have a first-aid kit on hand and know who to call in emergencies. Having a medical alert device is especially helpful when emergencies arise. Often, accessing a phone to call 911 during the event is challenging. However, a medical alert system can connect you with help during an emergency.

Always keep on top of your medicine prescriptions if you have to take pills. A great safety tip is to have a pill organizer and to always have a few extra pills on hand in case you ever run out of them. A lot of safety tips for seniors forget to mention these cases, but they are crucial, especially if you rely on that medication.
