Retirement Income Coming In? These 7 Reliable States WON’T Tax You

State With No Retirement Income: Texas

  • Percent of 65 and older population: 10.4%
  • Income Tax Range: None
  • Social Security: None
  • Inheritance and Estate Taxes: None
  • Median rent per month: $1,450
  • Utilities: $130
  • Meal at average restaurant: $11

Don’t mess with Texas … and they won’t mess with your retirement income! Because of the fact that the Lone Star State doesn’t have a personal income tax, it will stay away from your 401(k), IRA and pension income, as well.

San Antonio, specifically, has plenty to offer its retirees. It has four senior centers, eight municipal golf courses, over 140 miles of trails in city parks, and lots of complimentary arts and culture events.

Out of the three largest cities in the state, San Antonio has the highest percentage of adults 65 years and older.

It’s also the most inexpensive “big” city in the state, with the lowest average monthly rent, lowest monthly utility costs, and cheapest meals at inexpensive restaurants.

I live in Ohio, retired widow for 27 years, had to work because husband died at 48, lost my pension in Steel mills I am still taxed to death because I had to work longer to pay off all his medical bills, and no pension and to build up my Social Security. You cannot get ahead in this state. We are taxed to the hilt here. Tough for retirees to survive.
