As we said, Asheville is a city in the mountains, but don’t let this fool you. Maybe you think that the winters are harsh with a lot of snow, but this is not actually the case. During the winter, the city has an average of two snowfalls, and this might be great news for those who hate long and snowy winters. This versatility and the ease with which Asheville combines good weather with the scenic mountains make this city one of the best southeast cities for retirees.

Besides the great views and the multitude of outdoor activities that you can do, the city of Asheville, North Carolina, can also offer you a thriving art scene. Museums, music, and theater – you can find all of them here. And let’s not forget about the beautiful River Arts District. In this location, you can find many galleries and studios and also meet the artists on a personal level.

So, retire where all the hurricanes and tornado dangers are at! Plus all the high humidity rates for us seniors! No thank you!

Knoxville is also where a World’s Fair was held in the 1980s, and it’s close to Oak Ridge, where the A-bomb was researched as part of the Manhattan Project. As for Ashville, have you forgotten about Biltmore, the largest private home in the US and built by the tycoon Cornelius Vanderbilt?

Who wrote this Ashville just got washed away. Athens is a horrible place for seniors. You have to deal with all the partying and football games. Nobody wants to move to Florida. They are leaving down there because of hurricanes and government.
