2. Ask for your family’s help

As we previously mentioned, decluttering might be a pain in the neck, especially if you have to do it alone. In most cases, adult children leave all their belongings at their parents’ house. And that’s why a lot of retirees face the issue of having piles of clutter in every room. To ease your job, ask them to help you sort out things you no longer use, and put everything that can be donated in separate boxes.

3. Sell or donate items you no longer need

Since the word “downsize” has been stuck in your head for a while now and you want to move to a smaller place, you might take into consideration that selling old things from your house is a very good idea. You can do this through old-fashioned garage sales or try other online alternatives where you can sell faster without any contact.

This is an excellent method to quickly earn some money for your upcoming move. Keep in mind that if the sale doesn’t succeed, you can donate your belongings to friends, relatives, or, even better, to poor people who can’t afford new clothes or furniture.
