14 Things Retirees Forget to Check When Viewing a Home for Sale

Check for Damaged Or Old Wiring

Homes that were constructed in the mid-’60s or ’70s could have aluminum wiring. If that’s the case, you must determine if everything has been properly retrofitted.

It could turn into a fire hazard if it hasn’t, and wiring replacement can put a massive dent in your bank account.

Storage

The usual focal point for retirees looking to buy a home is the house itself. Location is often at the forefront as well. Structures for utility and tool storage aren’t usually regarded, but they should be.

Even if the home you’re looking at comes with a garage, a separate storage shed will be a huge help. This is especially true for retirees with a green thumb.

Lawnmowers, woodworking and gardening tools, and snow removal equipment all need to be stored somewhere safe and dry.
