1. Groceries

The average spent by US households: $5,259

We’re all feeling the impact of inflation right now, and this is something we can all see at the grocery store. Compared to last year, grocery prices are up around 12%, with certain categories being up even more.

A great way to reduce food shopping expenses is to scan unit pricing. This will let you compare different brands that may sell their food products in different-sized packages. Another idea would be to make price comparisons for the products you know you purchase often. Once you find the ones that make the most sense for your budget, make sure you stick to them.
