Hawaii has amazing beaches and great weather, but it’s also one of the most expensive places in the country to live in.

Hawaii has one of the highest living costs in the US, especially in areas where seniors are the most likely to live, such as Honolulu.

The state will not tax your Social Security or public pension income, however, earnings from private pensions and other retirement savings are taxed. Property taxes are reasonable, but housing expenses are high, with an average house value of $842,500.
