#3 Passports

You probably don’t use your passport at all unless your job requires a lot of travel. Therefore, you might ask yourself, why not store it in a safe deposit box where it would be secure and unlikely to be lost or damaged?

However, for those who like to travel, it is preferable to store passports in a somewhat more accessible location, especially given that they could be used in place of REAL IDs starting in 2022.

But keep in mind that, in case of an emergency trip, you should always have your passport available. Emergencies are unexpected and don’t wait for you. Maybe your partner is injured while on a business trip, or your child is sick while traveling abroad. You can never anticipate when a crisis may strike.
