4. Lay out your financial and lifestyle goals

One of the main reasons to find happiness when you think about downsizing is the financial aspect. You know you’re going to reduce your expenses, you’re going to have better cash flow, and it’s also going to enable you to put some of the proceeds from the house into your retirement assets. Understanding the type of retirement lifestyle you desire will help you set financial objectives and determine what you must do to achieve them. Think about all the ways you want to spend your retirement, as well as any potential expenses like healthcare. This will assist you in determining what you need the most.

Because you no longer have a job, it’s time to start a new hobby, maybe something that can be turned into a part-time job, or you can take care of your grandchildren during the summer holidays.

Before doing anything, ask yourself this question: Should I downsize? And write down everything that implies downsizing, and see what the benefits of it are.
