Is 2023 going to be any better?
Probably the most important question is this: Will this year bring all the proper opportunities for Joe Biden to leave his mark on America’s top retirement program? The answer is definitely no.
However, if there’s one thing this year will bring, it’s a changed Congress. After the midterm elections, Democrats lost full power over the U.S. Senate, and Republicans took back control of the U.S. House of Representatives.
To be more specific, we’re now moving from a situation where the Democrats controlled both chambers of Congress to controlling only one of them (and assuming that lawmakers vote only according to party lines). This kind of deadlock might lead to little or no legislation getting passed.
