Your Employer Might Not Help You Prepare

As I said before, investing for retirement might be a lifesaver type of decision. But do you know that many working adults don’t have access to a 401(k) at their job? Maybe you’re in this situation too. Don’t panic, though. There are other types of accounts you can access to start saving some money for retirement instead.

An individual retirement account, or IRA, for instance. Anyone with an income can set up for themselves a traditional IRA, which is an investment account for your retirement that enables you to postpone paying taxes until the money is withdrawn. Or, you can have a Roth IRA where you can put after-tax dollars as contributions and get tax-free withdrawals in retirement.
