Noticeable weight gain
If your spouse suddenly adopts a sedentary lifestyle, then weight gain is somehow expected. However, if that’s not the cause, then sudden weight gain could show other underlying conditions, such as diabetes.
If you notice any kind of change in your spouse’s appearance (and I’m talking about a drastic, sudden one), then you might want to ask yourself whether it’s time to consider moving to an assisted living facility. If both of you discover later that either one of you suffers from an underlying condition, then you might need additional help.
Social signals of the need for change
You would be surprised to find out that more and more people, as they age, prefer spending more time alone. When their closest ones pass on ahead of them, they might become used to less social activity.
Of course, this doesn’t have to be set in stone, especially since it is well-known just how hazardous loneliness can be to people’s health. Moreover, any lack of social interaction should be a sign of concern for seniors.
If you notice that your spouse doesn’t want to socialize with people anymore, then your significant other might be dealing with something. In this case, moving into an assisted living facility might ease and improve your spouse’s condition.
