Walk around your chosen neighborhood
For all the online searching you’re doing to find affordable rent for retirees, an apartment or home could be available in your own backyard, and you might not even know it. You might just need to walk past it.
Many landlords have gone back to using their yards or windows for placing a sign to rent out their place. More often than not, these are usually the lowest-priced places available.
Try to figure out the neighborhood you’d like to live in and take some time to walk around and look for “For Rent” signs around there.
Stay flexible
When tenants move out, property managers and landlords must invest money and time to clean the unit and do necessary upgrades.
Here’s an idea when looking for affordable rent for retirees: Offer to clean the apartment yourself and withhold any unnecessary renovations and upgrades. This could also save you some cash on rent.
