If you are into the arts, you can check out the following locations, and we assure you you won’t regret it: Duncan McClellan Gallery, The Dali Museum, or the Florida Holocaust Museum.

Even if the city is big, you don’t need to worry about getting from one place to another. What, you don’t have a car? No worries, because the public transportation in St. Petersburg is decent, and you can move easily through the city.

We know that this is the 4th largest city in Florida, but the prices here are perfect for retirees. The median home value is $290,858, and generally, a single person can live comfortably with $1000 per month without paying rent. Compared to New York, St. Petersburg, Florida, is 30.4% less expensive.

All in all, St. Petersburg is one of the best southeast cities for retirees, and we are sure most seniors will like living in this tropical paradise.

I agree 100%, Anita. The Midwestern states, in some of the smaller cities and towns, like Monona or Verona, WI, are among the BEST places to retire. They are very health-conscious communities with walking trails, cycling trails, parks, and lakes throughout Madison, WI, and the suburbs.

Looking for a warm State on the East Coast….non-hurricane location if possible.
Retired Air Force MSGT . Widower (recent). If a Military Base is nearby so much the better but not a deciding factor. Looking for a comfortable, year round weather location.
Virginia Beach area familiar to me. Lived there for4 years and really fell in love with it. However maybe your suggestions might enhance my thinking.

Who wrote this Ashville just got washed away. Athens is a horrible place for seniors. You have to deal with all the partying and football games. Nobody wants to move to Florida. They are leaving down there because of hurricanes and government.

Knoxville is also where a World’s Fair was held in the 1980s, and it’s close to Oak Ridge, where the A-bomb was researched as part of the Manhattan Project. As for Ashville, have you forgotten about Biltmore, the largest private home in the US and built by the tycoon Cornelius Vanderbilt?

So, retire where all the hurricanes and tornado dangers are at! Plus all the high humidity rates for us seniors! No thank you!
