How Most Taxpayers Already Receive Refunds

Many Americans have already made the switch.

According to recent IRS data, over 90% of taxpayers now file their taxes electronically, and a large majority choose direct deposit for tax refunds.

  • Electronic refund options include:
  • Direct deposit to a bank account
  • Deposit into multiple accounts
  • Prepaid debit cards
  • Digital payment services supported by banks

Taxpayers who e-file and choose direct deposit typically receive their IRS tax refund much faster than those who request a paper check.
