#8 Take advantage of senior discounts whenever you can

Generally speaking, if you have to rely on your security check as a means of living, it means you have a pretty tight budget, and you have to be careful of where every penny goes. Despite this, you should not limit the things you do or deny yourself anything nice. You can afford to go out from time to time and treat yourself.

And while this may sound like an unnecessary expense, you should keep in mind that there are significant discounts available at quite a lot of restaurants. A lot of the popular chains offer discounts to people 55 and older, even if you choose to order in!

A good example is Chili’s, which has a permanent 10% discount for seniors, as well as other places that have senior Wednesday discounts! Search for them online; they will definitely come up, and you can plan your outings around them!

If you’re preparing for retirement and it seems like everyone is trying to make it seem like sunshine and daisies, do not worry! Here, we have gathered some of the most uncomfortable truths that people shy away from talking about that we think you should be prepared for in advance!

I paid in close to the limit of social security for much of my life. Yes I took social security at 62 but my checks are less than $900 a month as it would not make my house payment. Thank goodness my retirement income is far in excess of that. I can’t imagine living on that alone.
