9. Washington, D.C

After what has occurred in American politics over the last few years, we have concluded that politics is nasty and may be headed for much worse things. Consequently, it shouldn’t come as a shock to anyone that Washington is one of the most unkind places in the country.

According to visitors but also to the locals, people in this city are frequently preoccupied or too self-absorbed to smile at you. Due to the high level of security, going into places like children’s museums, for example, requires having your purse or backpack examined, and many of the security personnel are not exactly kind. Furthermore, it appears that they don’t provide good customer service when fighting terrorism, which is a critical task here.
