8 Kirkland Products That No Longer Feel Like a Costco Bargain

Microwave Popcorn Makes Movie Night Pricier

Kirkland microwave popcorn rose roughly 5%, landing near $20.99. While popcorn still offers convenience, the price gap with national brands has narrowed.

If movie nights are frequent:

  • Compare per-bag pricing at discount grocers
  • Look for sales on national brands
  • Consider stovetop popcorn as a low-cost alternative

Small entertainment expenses add up quickly when inflation squeezes discretionary income.

There were really only seven not eight. Also many of these items are not what I would call healthy type things like produce and poultry, etc..

Thanks, Although, I still compare prices I also compare “due date” and quality like Kirtland “extra virgin oil” which is still the best, also “nuts, Coffee, and dishwasher and clothing soups. Also check non-food items
being sold in Product or convenient “Markets.” Socks, T-shirts, Kitchen iems and Pet foods, are great buys.

I shop at both Costco and Sam’s Club. I find that Costco may be higher a bit in price but the quality is that much better. Produce from Costco lasts longer than Sam’s Club. I purchase lemons (about 4-6 bags a month) and I consistently get more juice from the Costco lemons than the Sam’s Club lemons. Also, Costco has a great variety of organic produce and better tasting rotisserie chickens. My husband likes Sam’s For their fresh squeezed orange juice. As comparison, we like Costco the best. We are new to Aldies so will check them out more in the future.

We are Costco members since 1992 and buy lots of their stuff monthly. We do use Sam Club as well on the appropriate items. Although they don’t handle perishable items as well as Costco. Although neither of them handle their beer properly with temperature control and freshness being an issue.

I found many comments amusing. I love Costco. Prices have gone up on everything in this country. You can thank your government and tariffs. Retailers are just trying to hang on. Look at the many stores closing for good. I have an executive membership and it pays for its self. Our rebate checks cover the cost of the membership. If you aren’t happy…shop elsewhere. I am not a fan of Walmart. I think Costco does a great job of delivering goods to customers. I also love their electronics that are available.

I appreciate their stance on DEI, that they are suing the Trump administration re tariffs. I am happy to continue to support them.

Same with bagels buy one get one, we really don’t like to freeze breads and so then three days later 3/4 of one bag gone, other at bottom is already turning mildew places, I am also putting in the Refrigerator but take out to warm up a little but forget to eat the next day mildew starting.
