Travel and Transportation Savings

This is where senior discounts can lead to hundreds of dollars in savings. From flights to national parks, being a senior can make exploring the country much more affordable.

Airlines, Trains, and Cars

  • Amtrak: Travelers 65+ can save 10% on most rail fares.
  • Avis: AARP members can save up to 30% on car rentals.
  • Budget: AARP members can save up to 30% on car rentals.
  • Delta Air Lines: Senior discounts are available for certain itineraries, but you may have to call to book them.
  • Hertz: The Hertz Fifty Plus Program offers savings for travelers 50 and over.
  • Royal Caribbean: Reduced senior prices are available on select cruises for travelers 55+.
  • United Airlines: Offers senior fares (65+) to select travel destinations. Check their website when booking.

Hotels

Almost every major hotel chain offers a senior discount, but you usually have to book directly with them to get it. The age requirement is often 62+.

  • Best Western: Seniors 55+ can save up to 15%.
  • Choice Hotels (Comfort Inn, Quality Inn): AARP members or those 60+ can get up to 10% off when booking in advance.
  • Hilton (Hampton, Embassy Suites): AARP members can get up to 10% off, and a general senior discount is often available.
  • Hyatt: Travelers 62+ can save up to 50% at participating hotels.
  • IHG (Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza): A senior discount is available for guests 62 and over.
  • Marriott: A senior discount is available for guests 62 and over at thousands of their properties.
  • Motel 6: Seniors 60+ can save up to 10%.
  • Wyndham Hotels (Super 8, Days Inn): Offers special rates for AARP members and guests 60+.

Entertainment and Services

  • AMC Theatres: Offers special senior pricing for guests 60+, which varies by location.
  • AT&T: Offers the AT&T Senior Nation plan for those 65+ and special discounts for AARP members or Florida residents.
  • Cinemark: Many locations have a “Seniors Day” with discounted tickets.
  • National Parks: This is one of the best deals in America. U.S. citizens or permanent residents 62+ can buy a lifetime Senior Pass for $80 (or an annual one for $20). It provides access to over 2,000 federal recreation sites.
  • Regal Cinemas: Offers senior discounts for moviegoers 60 and over.
  • T-Mobile: Offers discounted Unlimited 55+ plans for customers 55 and over.
