6 Major Cities Where Seniors Regret Purchasing a Home

Miami, Florida

Miami is very popular with tourists, but it’s far better as a vacation spot than a retirement destination. Retirees struggle with several things as newcomers. You’ll first have to accept that no matter what time you make plans, everyone will be late.

This can be a frustrating habit for the naturally punctual. And if you’re looking to make new friends, good luck with that! Miamians aren’t exactly known for being super friendly.

But on a more serious note, the Sunshine State is plagued with far more hurricanes than any other state in our country. So buying property here is pretty risky.

You’ll have no guarantee that your home won’t get washed away. And speaking of the weather, retirees won’t experience the seasons changing here. It’s hot and humid all year round, with the summers being scorching.

So if you’re looking to relive your 20s, enjoy Miami on your vacation. But we recommend thinking twice before packing up and moving there.

Asheville NC use to be a beautiful place to live but the policies the mayor has supported have destroyed this small city. Crime, mostly due to homeless drug addicts, have made Asheville a very dangerous place to live.

I live in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and love it! Retired and single, lots to see and do! Crime is rising, mostly stolen cars. I take buses bc I’m native New Yorker. Beautiful natural areas. Good climate. Love being outdoors in clean air, under trees, or by the water.
