Your $914 Social Security Payment Will Arrive This Late!

In such cases, the Social Security Administration issues a monthly SSI check on the last business day before the month starts, so the beneficiaries would receive the check by the first of the month.

Given the adjusted schedule, recipients might receive two checks in the same month, several times throughout the year. Even so, beneficiaries will surely receive a total of 12 checks per year.

This year, there are four months in which you should expect two payments delivered in the same month: March, September, June, and December. This is mainly because the first of the month usually falls on a weekend in April, July, and October, and January 1 is a well-known holiday.

SSI payments were issued for the first time by the Social Security Administration in January 1974, and the payment rates have started increasing for the cost of living adjustments since 1975, as the agency reported.
