When Will Your Social Security Checks Arrive? (What Beneficiaries Should Know)

How to Replace a Lost or Stolen Social Security Card

The SSA replaces lost or stolen Social Security cards free of charge. There are three ways to request a replacement.

Online (Fastest Option)

You can request a replacement card online if you:

  • Are a U.S. citizen age 18 or older
  • Have a U.S. mailing address
  • Do not need to change your name or personal information
  • Have a driver’s license or state-issued ID
  • Have a personal “my Social Security” account

In Person

You can visit a local SSA office and complete Form SS-5. You must bring unexpired identification documents.

By Mail

Mail a completed Form SS-5 along with original or certified copies of documents verifying:

  • Identity (driver’s license, state ID, or passport)
  • U.S. citizenship (birth certificate or passport)

Approved replacement cards typically arrive within 7 to 10 business days.

    I’m 67 and I hate to use the race card but I’m white and get less every year and they take out for an overpayment that was THEIR fault so I make less and less every year! There ya have it,it’s not about race.
