What Is Supplemental Security Income (SSI)?
SSI is a federal assistance program that provides monthly payments to individuals with limited income and resources who are:
- Age 65 or older
- Blind
- Disabled
Children with qualifying disabilities may also receive SSI.
In general, adults eligible for SSI must have monthly earned income below $2,019, though eligibility depends on several factors, including living arrangements and other resources.
How to Apply for SSI
Applications can be started:
- Online through the SSA website
- In person at a local Social Security office
- By phone at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY: 1-800-325-0778), Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. local time

I retired in January 2026 I would like to know if I am eligible for SS, I am 66 years old.
Then leave. Go find a better country!
I’m 67 and I hate to use the race card but I’m white and get less every year and they take out for an overpayment that was THEIR fault so I make less and less every year! There ya have it,it’s not about race.
