Illinois

Why is this state on our list of the best retirement destinations in the Midwest?

Chicago

The Windy City might have a shady reputation for crime. Still, if you look behind the headlines, you’ll find a metropolis bursting at the seams with world-class museums, award-winning restaurants, architectural marvels, and top-notch entertainment.

If you choose your neighborhood wisely, you can expect to experience all the best of the city with none of the downsides. By this, we mean affordable housing, a diverse community, and outstanding attractions!

Glen Ellyn

The charming Village of Glen Ellyn in the heart of Dupage County is one of the best retirement destinations in the Midwest because it offers affordability, quality health care, beautiful scenery, and abundant activities. It also has a small-town feel!

The lovely Downtown Shopping District and Roosevelt Rd provide locals with all the shopping and resources they could want or need. And what we love most is that Glen Ellyn hasn’t forgotten its past.

Stacy’s Corners, for instance, is now a museum, and it was the original general store in the area. Glen Ellyn is also home to a highly educated workforce, excellent home values, and several retirement communities, that provide residents with living at their best!
