Investment fees

While a financial advisor can represent a great asset in matters of retirement planning, make sure you won’t be paying them higher fees than you need to be. Investment fees might run 1-2% of your assets.

For those retirees that have invested over million dollars, that’s almost $10-20k a year. So if you’re only getting an hour of check-in per year, that is an expensive phone call. In case you’re constantly using an advisor, make sure you will go with a service that will match your cost.

And truth to be told, there are lots of online resources (such as this one) that could really improve your skills when it comes to learning financial advice.
