#7 Consider a retirement community

If relocating doesn’t sound bad to you already and you’re willing to do it, then why not look into moving to a retirement community? Not only will it be cheaper than having to hunt down a new house to purchase or rent out, but you will even get a pretty big discount due to the house being open to seniors only. This means a better deal in a better neighborhood than normal.

What’s more, you will be surrounded by people of your age, which will make the socializing way easier than it would be in a suburban neighborhood somewhere else. The only drawback is to make sure you’re taking into consideration what you can get with a social security check: those luxurious retirement communities may be out of reach due to being really expensive.

I paid in close to the limit of social security for much of my life. Yes I took social security at 62 but my checks are less than $900 a month as it would not make my house payment. Thank goodness my retirement income is far in excess of that. I can’t imagine living on that alone.
