The language
Let’s take Belize for example. Say you’ve always dreamt of retiring there, that it was your biggest and hottest dream. While it’s true that people in Belize are English speakers, and English is their official language, in certain areas on the Caribbean side, people speak Creole, which is more related to Jamaican Patois.
It’s true that it’s no problem to get by there, even if you only speak English, as long as your activities are strictly related to going to a restaurant, or supermarket, checking into a hotel, or even asking for a taxi. You won’t run into a language barrier!
