Real estate agent

Lots of retirees launch second careers as real estate brokers and sales agents who are qualified to help clients buy, sell, and rent properties. Real estate brokers earn an average salary of $58,210, which is much higher than the salaries of real estate sales agents ($48,690), who might be required to work with a real estate broker.

The vast majority of real estate agents are self-employed, which also means that they usually set their own hours, mostly because they have to accommodate their clients’ schedules.

A lot of older women also get hired as property, real estate, and community association managers, and they get somewhere around $58,340. Luckily, there are bright prospects in the future, as 32,600 new property, real estate, and community association manager positions are expected to appear in the next decade.
